Cm hyper 212 evo heatsink
The Overclocked numbers are about right and align with the Hyper 212 Black Edition which show the limitation of the SickleFlow fan and PWM fan curves. (Ryzen, LGA 2011 etc.) When looking at raw temperatures the 64c load temps at the default speed were higher than expected and improved quite a bit once the second fan was added. Of course if the Hyper 212 EVO V2 can handle a Core i9 9900k it also means it can handle any other CPU around the 130w range.

The PC idles at 28-30 degrees C on desktop with nothing in the background. A few months ago, I installed the same CPU on a very similar MOBO with the stock cooler in a new build for my dad. The CPU is idling at 39 degrees C on the desktop with no background programs running. (aka not good for overclocking)Īs the charts show we have a heatsink that can clearly handle a Core i9 9900k despite the logic of using a “budget” cooler on a $500USD processor. I installed a CM Hyper 212 EVO in a new build for OCing. These numbers can be used to determine heat capacity, the larger the difference the less efficient the heatsink is. I installed this heatsink on my Intel i5-4670k haswell processor. Being a direct contact heatpipe cooler, I expected low idle temperatures in both the stock and overclocked scenarios. What we see here is a completely expected trend, as far as the Hyper 212 Evos individual results go.
The resulting C/W number is used to rate how efficient a heatsink or waterblock is based on the given heat load. I would say short, but a little longer than I would hope. Since this is a real world testing method we need to take into consideration real world variables and estimate tolerances. For those looking for a budget cooler in the < 30 range, the Hyper 212+ is hands down the most recommended model for both price and performance.
